Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Technical Manager to oversee third-party managers (TPM)and have a unique set of responsibilities, which requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of maritime operations. It’s a challenging position that ensures the seamless integration of third-party management into the overall operational strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor the performance of TPM to ensure they meet contractual obligations. Conduct regular reviews and audits to assess compliance with company standards and maritime regulations.
- Ensure that TPM adhere to international maritime laws, flag state requirements, and classification society standards. Address any compliance issues and work with third-party managers to resolve them promptly.
- Evaluate the operational and technical performance of vessels managed by TPM as per set KPIs to ensure compliance.
- Review budgets prepared for vessel maintenance and operations. Ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
- Provide guidance and support during emergencies or critical technical issues involving managed vessels.
- Identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively with TPM to implement changes.
- Review reports submitted by TPM and ensure they are accurate and comprehensive.
- Must act in accordance with Hanwha Group Core Values in supporting the Shipping Team and in upholding the Hanwha Brand.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications and Skills:
- Min 2 years seagoing experience as Chief Engineer.
- Min 5 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent with independent handling of at least two ship dockings.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Comfortable to work in an uncertain environment and evolving business priorities
- Must have at least 1 year of experience sailing on or overseeing LNG tank vessels from a technical oversight perspective.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willing to travel to vessels and shipyards
The ideal candidate for this role will have authorization to work in the US prior to joining Hanwha.
